I run a lot of giveaways, and so do a lot of romance authors. There are times when I run promotions and the winners have won ebooks from me. I have three choices when this happens.
1. I can purchase the books myself and send them to winners. (This can get costly.)
2. Or I can send their book straight-to-kindle which involves the book receiver having to know their kindle email address and adding me as an approved recipient. (This can be confusing for readers.)
3. Or I can send them the book directly to their email and they can upload it themselves. (Best for readers I trust and is the motivation for this article today.)
How To Transfer A .MOBI File To My Kindle or Kindle App
If I or another author sends you a Kindle book file (also known as a .mobi file) via email, here is the easiest way to upload that new book to your Kindle or Kindle App.
- Turn your Kindle on
- Connect the Kindle to your computer using the USB cable that came with your Kindle
- Drag and drop the “.mobi” Ebook file into the documents folder on your Kindle
- When the USB activity indicator on your Kindle stops flashing, “Safely Remove Mass Storage Device (Windows) or “Eject” (Mac) the Kindle from your computer.
- When the USB activity indicator on your Kindle stops flashing, unplug the USB cable from your Kindle
- Your book should now appear in your Kindle library.
